This March, 3MBS celebrates International Women’s Day. Among our program of special events, we are featuring a twenty-four-hour festival of works composed by women on Wednesday 8 March, International Women’s Day. The station will broadcast music spanning from 800AD to the many contemporary women composers working today.

Reflections 5 & 10 March: Ted Davies interviews musician and author Jillian Graham about her soon-to-be-released biography of Australian composer Margaret Sutherland, entitled Inner Song.

Music for Keyboard 8 March: A live-to-air recital by Melbourne-based British pianist, Yasmin Rowe featuring works by Clara Schumann and Amy Beach.

Wednesday Night at the Opera 8 March: A festive finale for International Women’s Day with operas by Peggy Glanville-Hicks (Sophho) and Moya Henderson (Lindy).

Music, She Wrote 29-31 March: A three-night festival celebrating women composers at the acoustically and visually stunning Alpha60 Chapter House in Flinders Lane. In-venue and digital tickets are available. For more details and bookings visit here.
