Presenter / Programmer / Digital Music Library
Marjorie Hall began volunteering at 3MBS after years as a devoted listener. She was one of our earliest subscribers. Following a career in information technology, she spent 5 years caring for her father in his final illness. The beautiful music on 3MBS was a great comfort to him, and Marjorie credits 3MBS with maintaining her own sanity through those demanding years. It allowed them to feel part of a community of music lovers and provided a connection to the arts community in Melbourne, though they were effectively house-bound. After her father died, Marjorie started working as a volunteer at 3MBS, on the reception desk, and in the library. After a few months the opportunity to undertake presenter training arose and she found she enjoyed the challenge of selecting and presenting her own programs. Marjorie now presents Divertimento on Thursdays, and can take over presenting duties on general and specialist programs when regular presenters are away, as well as being a member of the library working group. Marjorie has always loved plants, gardening and the environment. She started taking singing lessons to try to improve her breath control as a new presenter and continues because she enjoys them so much.
