Presenter/Programmer & Producer - Arts Weekly
In her family home, Mariese was surrounded by classical and art music. Her parents’ station of choice for many, many years was 3MBS; so it’s not surprising that she now spends a lot of her free time producing and presenting for the station.
After many years working interstate, Mariese returned to Melbourne and in late 2013 was invited to help produce the first 3MBS Marathon event (32 Beethoven piano sonatas in a day) and once she became involved it was hard to escape. In that first year, Mariese became the Executive Producer for Arts Weekly, which airs on a Saturday morning at 10am.
Soon it became apparent that (along with producing) presenting was something that interested Mariese and, with her fascination for orchestras big and small, she recently stepped into what she considers to be the joyous indulgence of programming and late-night presenting. If you see the shadow of someone dancing to Prokofiev in the moonlight, it might be Mariese.
In her day job, Mariese works in the world of musical performance and enjoys the opportunity to present to her listeners works that she discovers in her workplace – she is always seeking a fine recording with splendid artists. When not at work or in the studio, Mariese enjoys listening to music at home with the love in her life; Nimrod the Moggie.
