Alison Lee-Tet has been a volunteer presenter / programmer with 3MBS for over 10 years. She first discovered the station on the radio accidentally while studying for her high school exams. The music helped her to concentrate & relax. Jazz Rivers was always a favourite programme.

It was while she was on a day off from her Journalism course in 2003 that she discovered that 3MBS’s former home in Kew was near her home & she dropped in for a visit.

From there, she volunteered her time every Wednesday, assisting at Reception with general office duties. During her time at the station, Alison has also been involved in producing Local Arts Voice, writing film reviews for Screen Time, editing interviews, & contributing music reviews to 3MBS publications.

Gradually she began some formal radio training, with fellow volunteer Rod Watson & she greatly enjoyed co-hosting “Much Ado about Midday” with him for many Wednesdays, before a vacancy appeared for presenting the long running Jazz Rivers specialist music programme in 2007. It was a dream come true for Alison, hosting a programme she had greatly admired & loved from afar for some time.

While at university, radio was never a favourite or enjoyable subject. However, 3MBS helped to change that to a positive; she realised that the radio world was not all about news & current affairs, but also celebrating one’s creativity & musical passions. Alison studied VCE Solo Music performance in Clarinet, & also studied Piano for nearly a decade.

Alison has made many long lasting friendships with her radio colleagues & says she loves working with & meeting new volunteers. “It’s great to get new volunteers on board, watch them train to be great broadcasters and to help them spread the word about how fun local community broadcasting can be!”

When not behind the microphone on Tuesday nights, Alison can often be found at any one of Melbourne’s fantastic theatres, enjoying a musical, concert or play, & also listening to one of many of her favourite Jazz musicians, Miles Davis.

Her favourite 3MBS FM programs are Colours of Jazz, Night Tram & Theatretrack!
