"The Consciencious Programmer"

Most presenters prepare their own programmes. However there are one or two who utilize the talents of a handful of talented programmers, one of whom is Albert Whitelaw who has taken great pains to prepare a diverse range of programmes over the years..

Albert Whitelaw is one of nature’s gentleman and a quiet achiever. He was born in Ascot Vale.

Albert was introduced to classical music through listening to the radio. This was in the days when commercial stations broadcast several programmes of classics.

Ludwig Fischer-Dieskau, Elisabeth Schwarzkopf, Joan Sutherland and very many others all too numerous to mention.

Since retiring from business in 1995 Albert has volunteered his services to 3MBS firstly working in reception and later as a programmer. He loved this part of the work and spent very many hours sorting out a choice of music which was not only very well balanced but conducive to the ears of the listeners, not to mention the presenters of his programmes. It must be noted the importance of matching the correct presenter to a programme can make or break the soundability of the programme.

Albert is also on the committee of the Robert Stolz Viennese Music Society, which organizes concerts of Viennese style music at several venues in Melbourne.
