Soprano Siobhan Stagg is one of the most outstanding young artists to emerge from Australia in recent years. The great mezzo, Christa Ludwig, described her voice as one of the most beautiful she’d ever heard.

Growing up in Mildura and following studies in Melbourne and Cardiff, she was accepted in the Salzburg Festival’s Young Singers Project, and is now a principal artist with the Deutsche Opera in Berlin, from where she has been engaged by major opera houses and orchestras across Europe.

In October Siobhan will sing the role of Melisande in Victorian Opera’s production of Pelleas and Melisande.

You can hear Siobhan Stagg in conversation with Doug Beecroft (1st broadcast on Reflections on Sunday 7 October).
