Bonjour! In part 3 of “Female Composers”, Helen Rommelaar will explore the music of five French women who composed music during the 1800’s. As we approach Bastille Day on the 14 July, what better time to celebrate all things French.
We re-examine the challenges faced by female composers and look at what we can do to raise the profile of music written by women.
We will also hear about the French Beethoven, who demanded equal pay and who has an asteroid named after her. And all mixed with lashings of drama, tasty gossip and the most scrumptious of music. Bon appétit!
