YOU CAN SUPPORT THE HEALING POWER OF MUSIC THAT 3MBS BROADCASTS

Over the past two years, people have increasingly turned to music as a coping mechanism to deal with the uncertainty of the COVID-19 pandemic. Collectively, arts lovers have turned to music as a form of individual, as well as communal healing.

As we recover from the pandemic and transition to some form of normality in our daily lives we reflect on the mental, physical and emotional strain we’ve experienced over the past two challenging years. The impact of these years has had far reaching consequences and has affected every individual worldwide.

Despite these challenges, we have seen great resilience and innovation with the healing power of music.

The music that 3MBS broadcasts has touched many. It has helped people to stand together and emphasises that performing and listening to music together reinforces that we belong to a larger community of humanity.

Since January 2022, 3MBS has produced nearly forty live-to-air broadcasts featuring a diverse range of Melbourne musicians. During an on-air interview at the beginning of May, Australian National Academy of Music pianist, Kane Chang, described his music-making as an “act of consolation, solace and healing”, and that through his musical collaboration with other artists, “has brought collective strength and unity, something which music has a profound and unique ability to influence.”

3MBS has been there for you over these past two years and wants to be there for you in the future. As Melbourne’s own classical music station, it is up to Melbourne’s dedicated community of listeners to help sustain its operations and for it to remain an essential artistic resource as a broadcaster and provider for local musicians.

To sustain the music that provides comfort and enjoyment to many, the station needs your help.

The COVID-19 pandemic has taken a significant toll on the station’s finances over the past two years. That is why this year, as part of your deepened commitment as a 3MBS patron, we need your help to make up for these losses.

In the spirit of giving this end of financial year, we kindly ask you to consider making a tax-deductible donation before 30 June.

Support your classical music station so that we can continue to fill your life with music that heals.
