CONCERT 1: 10.45AM – The Piano

Since 2013, 3MBS’s The Talent has been providing performance and mentoring opportunities for Young Artists in Melbourne and for the first time at Marathon we welcome the winner and runner-up from the most recent season. The 2021 Talent Winner, Brian Luo and finalist Ray Liang will perform a diverse range of Tchaikovsky’s solo piano works in the intimate surroundings of the Primrose Potter Salon.

CONCERT 3: 1.45PM – Tchaikovsky’s Ballets – Yiyun Gu and Matthew Rigby

3MBS favourite, Yiyun Gu commences this concert with works for solo piano including the delightful Nutcracker Suite. Yiyun is joined by Matthew Rigby (violin) to bring you some of Tchaikovsky’s much-loved ballet music in arrangement for piano and violin, including music from Swan Lake and Sleeping Beauty.

CONCERT 4: 3.15PM – Tchaikovsky in Song

In a program of song, the last of our Salon Chamber Music Series,
tenor Michael Petrucelli and associate artist Phillipa Safey explore a selection of Tchaikovsky’s works for the solo voice. 

To close the Salon Series, Young Songmakers Lisette Bolton (soprano) and Alexander Owens (baritone), with associate artist Andrea Katz, present a selection of Tchaikovsky’s little heard song repertoire with duets and songs in German and Russian.
