Kingussie Piano Trio
The Kingussie Trio is a close-knit group of three musical friends who are music scholars at Camberwell Grammar School. Their bond and passion for music have led them to outstanding achievements, including winning the 2024 Boroondara Eisteddfod’s Chamber Music section and securing second place at the Music Society of Victoria’s Open Chamber Competition. The Kingussie Trio were one of the winners of the 3MBS Prize, awarded to the top two Victorian ensembles in 2024 Strike A Chord Prizes.
Each trio member is an AMEB Diplomate with a history of success at national and international competitions.
Violinist David Chon currently studies with Sulki Yu and was in the final of the Preston Concerto Competition last year.
Cellist Gabriel Liu recently performed at the AMEB's Conferring Ceremony to a packed Hawthorn Town Hall.
Pianist Dillon Chan currently studies with Ian Munro and has just returned from Switzerland where he was awarded first Prize at the Chopin Jeune International Competition where he attracted the attention of Martha Argerich.
The Kingussie musicians love the large romantic piano trio repertoire and the chamber music of Julian Yu.
They will perform:
• Ravel: Piano Trio in A minor, mvt. I
• Shostakovich: Piano Trio, mvt. II
