“I can hear you, but I can’t see you…is your camera on?”

They’re familiar words to those of us in lockdown as we communicate with our friends, family, and colleagues through a screen. What could possibly go wrong?

The Victorian Opera is releasing a new series of short videos called Opera-Bytes, through which young opera stars are teaming up with composer Angus Grant to present a fortnightly slice of pandemic life.

In a release, the composer said: “Opera-Bytes deals with the banalities of domestic life under social distancing (including the wrestle with technology), the desire to form new bonds despite this and also the sense of loss that many young people are facing.” Check out the first video on YouTube before returning each fortnight
