Threshold is a large-scale, out-door surround sound vocal and percussion work written for 12 ensemble percussionists, two vocalists and a 20 piece chorus with Federation Handbells.
A work of passion, of art and of purpose, this performance, featuring the quarter-tone Glockenspiel and the Quarter-tone Federation Handbells, musically describes the harrowing journey an asylum seeker might experience when leaving a country at war to seek peace and shelter in a new place, and the courage, fortitude this might take. It is also to welcome the people who arrive here in such circumstances and to value the many gifts of culture, perspective and wisdom they often bring with them.
