Mendelssohn’s Elijah

Essendon Choral Society with Singularity

Essendon Choral Society and Singularity present Mendelssohn's famous oratorio ELIJAH accompanied by the Melbourne Opera Orchestra, distinguished Soloists and conducted by Greg Hocking AM. This dramatic and colourful composition was commissioned for the Birmingham Triennial Music Festival in 1846, where it premiered in the presence of Queen Victoria and was enthusiastically applauded as a triumphant work of great art. ELIJAH continues to be recognised as one of Mendelssohn's principal works. This occasion offers an opportunity to relive and hear afresh the polished beauty of his music.
