Yii Ying Tan

Yii Ying is a young pianist who is enthusiastic about classical music, particularly music by lesser-known composers. She recently obtained a double degree – Bachelor of Music/Commerce, studying under Dr Kenji Fujimura. Born in 1996 in Malaysia, Yii Ying has been playing the piano since she was six and has won numerous international and local competitions. Recent achievements include a debut of Glanville-Hicks’ Etruscan Concerto at Robert Blackwood Hall with the Monash Academy Orchestra; a sold-out solo recital in collaboration with Casa Capriccio Musica in Kuching, Malaysia, and a performance in the Lincoln Centre, New York City. An enthusiastic chamber musician, Yii Ying has explored a wide variety of chamber music, with combinations that are rarely performed such as piano for six hands, music with acting components and voice/cello/piano. She was also specifically chosen by Paul Grabowsky to be involved in a performance and recording project with the Monash Arts Ensemble. Tickets $10.
