Young Czech conductor Jakub Hrůša is already one of the big names of the world’s orchestras, including the Berlin Philharmonic, Royal Concertgebouw, New York Philharmonic, and his own Bamberg Symphony Orchestra. In Melbourne recently to conduct the MSO, Jakub Hrůša spoke to Doug Beecroft about his special relationship with his late conductor mentor Jiří Bělohlávek, as well as the indefinable art of conducting.
