Illuminations: Ethel Smyth
Dame Ethel Smyth today is remembered for two reasons: her involvement in the Suffragette movement and her overture to one of six operas, The Wreckers. John Wilkinson will show that Smyth was more than just a footnote in British musical history, writing six operas, a mass, choral symphony, chamber music and songs.
