Melbourne Bach Choir and Orchestra continue their tradition of Good Friday concerts with imaginative program, featuring outstanding cast of soloists.

Following the Success of OA’s recent production of Kind Roger by Polish composer Karol Szymanowski, his rarely performed Stabat Mater is paired with the much loved German Requiem by Johannes Brahms.

The six short movements of Szymanowski’s expressive masterpiece invokes Polish folk elements and echoes of early counterpoint, in a highly personal setting. Brahms’ choice of text for the requiem was also individualistic, focusing on a more humanist rather than overtly Christian take on the concept of the end of life, in this deeply felt and dramatic work.

When: Good Friday, March 30 at 2:30pm.

Where: Melbourne Recital Centre.
