Thanks to the Rotary Club of Sorrento we have a number of double passes to give away to the opening night of their upcoming Art Show.
Considered to be the most prestigious art event on the southern peninsula. In the past years over 800 entries are received each year for viewing and for sale from local and interstate artists. Over $100,000 was given to local community by the Rotary Club of Sorrento who hosts the event.
This prestigious event offers you the opportunity to view and buy stunning original art by local and interstate artists, such as :
Ron Farnill, whose inborn love of the sea took him in his spare time to the UK Yorkshire coast. His skilful use of watercolour, colour harmony, composition of shapes and his obvious enjoyment of painting make his “marine portraits” a continuing joy to those fortunate to possess one.
Jane Henderson, the character of her work is enhanced by a high key palette which makes her work distinctive and instantly recognisable. Her style is strong and vigorous, showing the influence of the Australian impressionists she so admires. Collectors of her work appreciate and admire the exactness of her tonal values.
and our emerging young artists :
Gabrielle Young, her work is inspired by nature and the patterns hidden in the landscape, in animals, plant and sea life. She loves to create a close-up view of a particular environment and is drawn to using a great deal of fine detail in her work using pen and ink. She also often tries to create a sense of movement in her pieces.
Billy Nye, is passionately involved in the art of printmaking‚ and portraying an emotionally rich world‚ through observational imagery and rhythmical space. The act of carving the plate‚ of rolling on the ink‚ and of pulling the print is all part of an expressive and very personal dance. Billy believes that here is something about printmaking that is primitive‚ and entices her senses. Many of her prints are award winning as people appreciate the very fine detail in her work.
The judge, award winning Lyn Mellady, well known for her images, atmospheres lights and colours of Australia and shares her love of painting with classes, painting tours, workshops for art societies and judging.
Opening Night with bubbles and nibbles Saturday 6th January, 5pm and then daily 10am to 4pm at the Sorrento Community Centre, Morce Avenue, Sorrento on the fabulous Mornington Peninsula. Come to the art show and then visit this stunning region.
This competition has now closed but stay tuned for new concerts coming soon.
